What is Childhood Aphasia?
Childhood, or pediatric, aphasia happens with children just like it does with adults. Damage to areas of the left hemisphere of the brain from stroke, TBI, or other causes can lead to childhood aphasia. Many school systems aren't equipped to help students with aphasia, but it can get better with aphasic-specific treatment approaches.
The Aphasia Center does accept children with aphasia, but a consultation is required due to customized treatment recommendations and plans.
